Capsheet
Capsheet refers to finishing the roof with a final “cap” top layer of roll roofing which is surfaced with reflective white ceramic granules. Since capsheet is usually applied on 2” seams, the roof to be covered must have a good slope, positive drainage and a deck surface which is relatively smooth. Expert application is critical to assure tight seams, and a sheet layout which avoids water bucks and seam-on-seam lapping. We apply all our capsheet by “flop” method. Each sheet is laid face down, mopped on the back and felt below, then flopped over into place. This gives full coverage of asphalt between layers, and double layers of asphalt at the important seams.

Built-Up Felt/Rock
Rock surfaced roofing usually consists of built-up layers of fiberglass roofing felts and hot asphalt. The roof is finished with a surfacing of hot asphalt and crushed rock. The built-up layered construction allows it to be used on low sloped roofs. But the roof structure must be able to support the considerable weight of the rock without causing the deck to sag. All our roofing felts are warehoused to eliminate the separation problems which can happen with felts which are allowed to absorb moisture in open storage yards. By using various combinations of different weight felts, the life expectancy and durability of felt/rock roofing can be suited to each roofing problem and price range.

Repairs & Maintenance
Simple repairs can save the cost of a new roof if done properly, and in time. Sometimes the repairs do not actually require expensive professional roofing labor, but can be done on your own. But, repairs that are attempted on roofs that are too old, or that have special problems can be an expensive waste of money.
