The importance of proper roof maintenance cannot be emphasized too strongly. With good maintenance the useful life of the roof is extended many years and the cost per year for roofing is reduced. An efficient maintenance program will allow capital to be requested on an orderly basis, so that as each roof finally reaches the end of its life-cycle, it can be conveniently replaced, avoiding any damage.
In contrast, ineffective repairs attempted on roofs with extensive failure are generally futile, frustrating, and ultimately costly to the owner and damaging to the reputation of the contractor.
We feel the owner and the contractor should hold the same high standards for repairs that they hold for the application of new roofing. The contractor should not accept a job he feels has a small chance of ever being waterproof, or which he suspects would prematurely fail. The owner should not be satisfied with anything less than a completely waterproof roof.
